Jobvite Integration Guide
Integrate Jobvite recruiting data with enterprise applications through REST APIs, selected webhook notifications, and Martini workflows.
Jobvite integration options at a glance
Jobvite provides REST APIs as the primary mechanism for accessing recruiting data and integrating external applications. Selected recruiting events can also generate webhook-style notifications, although event coverage, delivery security, and retry behavior must be confirmed for each account. Jobvite integrations use customer-specific API credentials, with the exact authentication scheme and permissions varying by account and API product. Martini can consume Jobvite REST endpoints, receive supported webhook requests, map and transform JSON payloads, apply recruiting business rules, and synchronize data with HR, service management, identity, analytics, or database platforms. Where webhooks do not cover all changes, scheduled incremental retrieval and reconciliation can supplement event processing.

Authentication and security considerations
Customer-specific credentials
Jobvite API access requires credentials provisioned by Jobvite or the customer's Jobvite administrator. The exact credential format can vary by account and API product, so the implementation should confirm whether the account uses an API key, client credentials, signed credentials, or another documented method. OAuth 2.0 should not be assumed.
Secrets and permissions
Store credentials in Martini secrets or environment configuration rather than embedding them in workflows. Confirm which recruiting objects and operations the credentials can access, and apply least-privilege permissions where supported.
Candidate privacy
- Minimize personal data transferred to downstream applications.
- Restrict workflow and application logs that may contain candidate information.
- Avoid logging complete candidate payloads, resumes, interview notes, or compensation information.
- Consider retention, deletion, regional processing, and applicable employment-data requirements.
Operational considerations for Jobvite integrations
Pagination and rate limits
Confirm endpoint pagination, ordering, page-size limits, and account-specific rate limits. Use checkpoints for incremental retrieval, controlled concurrency, exponential backoff for transient 429 and 5xx responses, and an overlap window when timestamp precision or eventual consistency could cause missed changes.
Events and reconciliation
Jobvite webhook coverage is limited to selected events and must be verified for the customer's configuration. Use event identifiers, or a composite of event type, object identifier, and event timestamp, to prevent duplicates. A scheduled reconciliation process should detect missed notifications and repair downstream state.
Schema and status changes
Recruiting statuses, stages, departments, locations, and custom fields may be configurable. Treat these values as customer configuration rather than universal constants, preserve unknown fields where practical, and test mappings when the Jobvite API version or recruiting configuration changes.
Documents and resumes
Do not assume resumes or other documents are embedded in Candidate responses or that a general attachment API exists. Confirm whether the enabled API returns metadata, a temporary download URL, binary content, or a separate resource, and avoid storing large document payloads in logs or oversized workflow variables.
Testing and monitoring
Test authentication, pagination, event acceptance, duplicate delivery, missing resources, status mappings, sensitive-data filtering, downstream failures, and checkpoint recovery with representative data. Monitor workflow outcomes, retry queues, reconciliation differences, and API response patterns.
Why use Martini instead of scripts or point-to-point integrations?
Orchestration beyond point-to-point calls
Scripts and direct application links often combine authentication, pagination, mapping, business rules, retries, and logging in application-specific code. Martini provides a workflow model for coordinating Jobvite API calls, webhook intake, target writes, scheduled reconciliation, and exception paths in one maintainable integration asset.
Reusable transformation and control
Martini can map Jobvite JSON into canonical models, translate configurable recruiting statuses, filter candidate data, apply validation rules, and expose a controlled API façade. This reduces coupling between downstream systems and Jobvite-specific payloads.
Operational reliability
- Use secrets and environment configuration for account-specific credentials.
- Implement pagination, checkpoints, throttling, retries, and idempotent writes consistently.
- Combine selected webhook processing with scheduled reconciliation.
- Monitor failures and preserve useful operational evidence without exposing sensitive candidate data.
